Can a fan still have a dream?

After tonight’s MNF game in which the Titans won their 4th straight I got a little excited. They face the Cardinals in Tennessee next. I hope the Titans have extra super duper confidence (remember this is my dream). In my dream the Cardinals lose their next 3 straight. They lose to the Titans, they lose to the vikings, and best of all they lose to the SAN FRANCISCO 49ers. Imagine that. and to put the icing on the cake they also lose to the Green Bay packers. Of course none of this would matter if we don’t win our games. Which is very much do able. Left on our schedule are the Jaguars, the Seahawks, the Cardinals, the Eagles, the Lions, and the Rams. Does anybody see a team that ISN’T beatable? cause i don’t.

Some of you make be thinking “keep dreaming” but its possible. The lose to the Vikings is very much possible. VERY MUCH. and with the Titans rolling on the way they are, the cardinals losing to them is also possible. Then we host the Cards at home for MNF. We’re going to have a lot to prove in that game and if we show up, the real 49ers show up, we have a strong possibilty of taking over the #1 spot atop the NFC West.

I don’t know about you but i dont feel like waiting another year. So before you give up all hope. Remember there is still the possibilty of a playoff run. Though its not the best scenario for us. It’s a possible scenario and that’s what’s important!

Pro Bowl Voting Going On

Today the NFL announced the leaders in the votes for the Pro Bowl. Inside linebacker Patrick Willis leads the NFC in his position with 115,350 votes to his name. I dont think that came to a surprise to anybody, does it?

What did come as a surprise to me is that Vernon Davis wasn’t the leader in Tight End, but instead it was the Falcon’s Tony Gonzalez. I guess name recognition really goes a long way in Pro Bowl selection. I’m not here to say Gonzalez isn’t a great Tight End, but is he the best in the NFC right now? MY OPINION is no. I think its time to move on to a younger generation, i.e. Vernon Davis.

The whole reason I’m writing this blog to tell everyone to get on http://www.nfl.com/probowl/ballot and start voting for your favorite 49er player!!! How the hell does favre get 500k + votes and Willis gets roughly 115k. And no 49ers make its on the top 10. Come on 9er Fans it only takes 5 mintes and a few clicks. Just click on it and do your part. You watch them play for 3 hours so you can support them for an extra 5 minutes. http://www.nfl.com/probowl/ballot

MVP of the game goes to….

j-cut-aBears Quarterback Jay Cutler and his 5 interceptions. 5 interceptions by 5 difference 49ers players, WOW what a day for Cutler. It was Cutler’s worst game of his career. It was an ugly game and an ugly win for us yesterday at the ‘Stick.

By the way, 17% of cutlers completions were to a 49ers player.

I don’t know what’s worst, that Cutler is being named MVP of the game by pretty much everybody or that no one from the niners got named MVP. Yea its funny to make fun of Cutler by saying he was the game’s MVP but its kinda sad that no one really stood out for the niners. With the exception of Gore’s 14 yard TD rush it was a DEAD GAME.

Like I’ve said before, a wins a win and ill take it however we can. But we can not keep playing offense like we did yesterday if we plan on making the playoffs this season. WE JUST CAN’T. Especially not against teams like the Eagles, Packers, and Cardinals. Our D was Solid allowing no TDs in yesterday’s game , but our offense was not so good. It was obvious they were playing it safe the second half of the game but is that what you do if you trust your offense? It’s also obvious Jimmy Raye does not trust Smith.

We have another tough road game ahead of us next week against the Packers. I’m sure they know what’s at stake the remainder of the game. It’s either Playoffs or not. It’s up to them to decide what they will be doing Mid-January.

The rise and fall…..then rise?

If you’re like me your asking yourself “what the hell happened” After starting the season 3-1, the 49ers have dropped 4 in a row. To make it worst one lose was to the then 1-6 Titans. Tomorrow we have the Chicago Bears coming to the ‘Stick and we really need the W. We need to get back into Playoff contendership.

Most of us as fans thought we were untouchable after starting 2-0 and the VERY VERY CLOSE and disappointing lose to the Vikings and and then coming back and STOMPING all over the Rams at home on Oct. 4th. It’s not been more than a month since our last win

Yes we’re undefeated in the NFC West but the Cardinals are now 2 wins ahead of us. And they still face the Rams twice this season. We have to match their every win, they have to lose to the Vikings on Dec. 6th, and then it would come down to the Monday night game we have against them on Dec. 14th. That can quiet possibly be the deciding game on who is going to the playoffs. AGain keep in mind we have to match every win the Cardinals and the cardinals would have to lose against the Vikings. Or anyone for that matter.

They’ve risen, they’ve fallen, hopefuly they’ll rise again THIS season. I dont want January to come around and we’re thinking ” hopefully next season”. It’s not over till the fat lady sings, and i haven’t heard anyone sing.

Titans coming to town.

With the Titans and Chris Johnson coming to town this week the 49ers have their work cut out for them. As you might already know Chris Johnson leads the NFL with 824 rushing yards, averaging 6.9 per carry. The 49ers are allowing only 84.9 rushing yards per game. That’s 2nd only to last years world Champs, the Steelers. With Patrick Willis and Takeo Spike’s  neck on that defense, its not hard to believe they’re the second best running defense in the league.

Vince Young or Alex Smith? Both had their first start of the season last week. I think Alex Smith will top 200 passing yard and have more passing parts than V. Young will in the game. Will i start him on Fanstasy football? hell no but he is improving. I don’t think ANYONE expected Smith to play the way he’s been playing the last game and a half. Sunday will be his first game at home in a LOOOOONG time. If he played that good away let’s see how he does at home.

Michael Crabtree…no more FTP. With the first home game of his career we should expect great things from him this game. The kid already has 137 yards in 2 games. That’s just 144 yards less than T.O. has all season, IM JUST SAYING. We’re all waiting for his first game at the ‘Stick. I’m sure he wont disappoint.

And the Jackass of the game goes to….

jackassJimmy Raye….For not taking full advantage of the weapons at his disposal. Like Matt Maiocco told me Via Twitter, if the team executes nobody complains. The thing is the team did some what execute but not how a team with a deep threat shold execute. I like many others think that Raye does not yet trust smith to go for the deep hits. Too many 3 and longs. TOO MANY!!! I gota give it up for Davis , Smith, and crabtree for having GREAT games. Raye needs to have more trust in his team and let the balls fly. I feel like he thinks Gore is still his only option. And even though we went to the air twice as much as we ran it, it seems they didnt throw at the right time. I’m sure Raye knows 100 times more about football than ill ever know. but im just calling it how i see it. And for that Mr. Raye you are this week’s Jackass of the game. Congratulations!

And the Jackass of the game goes to…

jackassAranaz Battle…. With his 3rd Fumble of the season he pretty much handed the Texans 7 points. Was it the suns fault? maybe. Did he cost us the game? MAYBE…the Texans took the ball on the 49ers 10 yard line and went to score the TD. That’s 7 points with the extra point, we only lost by 3 points. Call me a sore loser looking for somebody to blame. WHO CARES, im not the only one thinking he lost us the game. Even Hall of Famers fumble the ball, but why did u have to do it at the 10 yard line Battle!!! And for that Mr. Battle, you are this week’s Jackass of the game. Congratulations!

Alex Smith, Welcome…..Back?

Yesterday Mike Singletary made the announcment we all saw coming, he named Alex Smith the starting QB for this weeks game against the Colts. He also said it wouldn’t be “a flavor of the month” type thing. What he meant by that is they wont be changing QBs all the time. Maybe this was his plan the whole time, let Alex Smith watch and learn from the sidelines. I really hope he does a good job at center. I just hope we, the fans, don’t expect him to carry to the team on his back right away. If he does then we will all be happy campers, if not we have to understand the guy hasn’t played a regular game in almost 2 years. He did an excellant job on sunday in the 2nd half, I’ll give him that, but let’s hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Cause if we all expect for him to throw 6 Tds in the game and 300+ plus yards we just might be disappointed. As long as he’s in a niner jersey i will support almost any player under center. LETS GO NINERS!!!!!!

In other news, the 49ers roster had more changes than Takeo Spikes has muscle on his neck( now thats alot!) Tony Pashos was put on IR for a fractured Scapula, 49ers also signed OT Chris Patrick off the Chiefs practice squad. LB Diyral Briggs got promoted from the practice squad,  and LB Marques Harris was released.

Michael lewis returns to full practice this week but will undergo further testing. Takeo Spikes is day to day with his shoulder injury he underwent an MRI.

49ers lose….Smith Wins

49ers 21 Texans 24-Final

What a loss.  I guess i have mixed feelings about the game. Of course im upset that we lost such a close game, however im very excited about what we saw from Michael Crabtree today. He made some good catches out there today after playing almost 90% of the offensive plays, more than any other WR.He ended the game with 5 catches for 56 yards. Also, Vernon Davis, like i mentioned on an earlier blog he has really came out this season. Today he really made it clear he’s here to stay. Another possible positive thing that came out of today’s loss; Alex Smith. I wont sit here and say I’ve always wished they put him in, cause i never did. I been a Shaun Hill guy from the first game is saw him play with the 49ers. But what we saw from Alex Smith today really makes you question who should be under Center. Three TD’s in the second half is incredible. 15 of 22 passes for 22 yards and 1 interception. Coach Singletary didn’t come out and say he wanted Smith to start next week, he obviously wants to sit down down with both QBs and let them know how its going to be before he lets the media know. We’ll probably find out tomorrow, I’m sure they want to name the starting QB for next week early so they can build up the offense around him.

So after today’s game the 49ers drop to 3-3 with the Colts next week at Indianapolis. Let’s hope the Cardinals lose tonight to the Giants so we can stay atop the NFC West.

Crabtree’s Debut….Starting?

With Michael Crabtree’s first NFL game right around the corner there have been numerous reports saying that he will be in the starting line up. Jimmy Raye has already came out and said he will be playing in about half of the snaps, i hope he plays for me, since i just picked him up on my fanstasy team. Anyways, the news is some what as a surprise since the guy just signed a couple weeks ago. This week was his real full practice with the team. He must be really impressing the coaches.

There are also reports that Brandon Jones isn’t too happy about not having a bigger role on the offense. With the 15 million they gave him you would think he would have a bigger role. Maybe he would have if it wasnt for the shoulder injury he had before the season started.

ALSO, and most importantly Gore participated in full practice this week. He has said he is ready to go back into action. I can’t wait to see what he can do against a poor running defense like the Texans. Hopefuly he has another day like he did vs. the seahawks. Come on Gore! my fantasy team in depending on you!

In other news the 49ers signed RB Keon Lattimore to the practice squad, Keon spent the past 2 years with the cowboys camp. He is also the younger brother of Michael lewis.
